The Bondar Challenge is being launched in 2 Nova Scotia communities – Victoria County in Cape Breton and the South Shore as part of Mabel Bell: Celebrating a Life & Legacy of Outstanding Nova Scotia Achievements in Art & Science.
Both communities will be hosting The Roberta Bondar Foundation’s Travelling Exhibition and Learning Experience [TELE], Light in the Land – The Nature of Canada which focuses on the theme of helping to create an emotional bond between the nature of the country and the individual. This exhibition will highlight and educate the public on the role and importance of photography in the life of Mabel Bell, as well as include profiling of Mabel’s own photography and paintings, many of which document her life in Baddeck with Alexander Graham Bell.
Light in the Land – The Nature of Canada will be on display at Alexander Graham Bell National Historic Site in Baddeck from July 20 to August 11, 2017 and at the Lunenburg School of the Arts in Lunenburg from August 18 to September 16, 2017.
Taking our cue from Light in the Land, this is our opportunity to express through photography what we admire and value in the natural world of Nova Scotia and that you hope will exist 150 years from now.
This challenge is open to all groups, individuals and ages in Victoria County & the South Shore – residents or visitors to our communities.
You can take the challenge in 3 easy steps:
1. SNAP a well composed photograph of what is special to you in Nova Scotia.
2. DESCRIBE in 2-3 sentences why this is your choice
3. SUBMIT your entry (photo and description)
The Bondar Challenge is presented in partnership with the Alexander Graham Bell Foundation and is supported by The Province of Nova Scotia – Department of Communities, Culture and Heritage’s 150 Forward Fund. The 150 Forward Fund supports opportunities for Nova Scotians to create, promote and participate in local and regional events that build a sense of pride in Nova Scotia during the celebration of Canada’s 150th anniversary of confederation.
